What to Expect

Whether you haven’t been in church for some time or have recently moved to Vancouver Island, we know that visiting a new church can be overwhelming.  We're so glad that you're considering joining us for a Sunday.  We want to do our best to make sure that you have a great first experience.  Check out some of the common questions we get from visitors below.  If there's anything we've missed, give us a call or send us an email and one of our pastors will be happy to help you out.

Common Questions
What time is the service?

Online Sunday service begins at 10:30 am.

How can I attend services safely?

Right now we are only meeting online.  You can go HERE to participate in our online gathering.

When we can safely meet back in the building...

We ask everyone to pre-register for all services at Highway.  You can do that by going to our EVENT PAGE

At our gatherings, we remind everyone to practice proper social distancing and hand sanitization. We ask that if you are feeling sick, have been out of the country, or in contact with someone who may be showing signs of COVID, that you kindly remain at home.

Please contact the office (office@hcfsidney.ca) for a copy of our Gathering Protocol document for more information on our safety protocols for gathering.

What should I wear?

You can wear anything that you feel comfortable in. Whether that is a t-shirt or a tie, we want you to feel at home. We are much more concerned with what happens on the inside than what you wear on the outside.

Will I be asked to give any money?

If you are a first time guest or a visitor, we don’t want your money! We receive an offering every week from those who call Highway their home. There is no obligation to give. We’re just glad that you’re here.

Is there anything happening for kids?

Please NOTE: For now, while we are still in the midst of a pandemic, our kids programs have been suspended.

Normally, we have exciting programming for children from preschool to Grade five. Trained volunteers provide a fun, safe and engaging morning for your kids.  We hope to be able to provide programs again on Sundays soon.

But don't dispair, we still have exciting programs for kids.  On Tuesdays we have Hope Club for kids age 5 to grade 5 and on Wednesdays we have Engage for students ages 11-17.

What is the music like?

The music at Highway is lively and engaging. We’re not afraid to pull out the classics, but you'll also hear your favourite modern tunes. You will usually find a full band including drums, guitars, keys and vocals. We sing songs that are meaningful, easy to follow and that praise God.

What is the service like?

A typical Sunday at Highway includes music, relevant biblical teaching that actually applies to your life right now, spending time in community. We love to celebrate that God is impacting our lives for the better.

We would love to get to know you.
